STOP PRESS. For those travelling from the north. The B6278 Stanhope to Middleton-in-Teesdale road is closed south of Stanhope at Bollihope Burn. There is a diversion via Frosterley [the village 3 miles east of Stanhope] to Middleton-in-Teesdale. Please allow extra time on your journey.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS. Kit to be carried by all runners:- Minimum kit to be carried is full body cover waterproofs, hat and gloves, map, compass and whistle. Although the weather forecast is fine and warm, Cronkley Fell is exposed to any winds or thunder showers, which have also figured in some weather forecasts to date. Cut-off Times:- The cut-off time for the mid-way, turn-around check point (Grid Ref NY 829283) will be 1230 pm. After this time, the check point will be closed by the marshalls, who will then progressively return along the route, with subsequent marshalled locations being closed down as they go through. Any runners who have not reached the mid way check point by 12.30 pm will be retired and informed of this by the returning marshalls and, if appropriate, the Sweeper, who will be behind them. A note will be made of their numbers and they will be reminded that they must declare their retirement and safe return to the registration/results team at the start/finish at the Strathmore Arms. Any runners who declare they intend to proceed having been retired will be informed that they no longer form part of the Cronkley Fell Race and that they continue at their own risk, with DFR accepting no further responsibility for their safety.
All participants must understand when we ask for your full co-operation in these important safety measures.
